July 14, 2013 – Update

No, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. 🙂
But I haven’t had time to get up a new post, and there’s not a lot of new information to report.

I have a new post nearly ready to go up, but I thought I’d start with a few administrative details and get the new post up a little later in the day.

A while back, someone told me that the “comments” were not showing up, and they couldn’t go back and re-read old comments. I’d set the comments sections to “close” after seven days – this helps cut down on the blog-spam I have to purge. But it has an unintended effect too – it makes it so not only is it impossible to post new comments after seven days, but it apparently also prevents you from even reading the comments. [It removes the links to the comments sections…]

I’ve changed this – you can now leave and read all the old comments. I’ll see if there is some way you can still navigate to the comments, but not make new comments. [Or perhaps I’ll just continue to deal with blog-spam! 🙂 Within a couple of minutes of re-enabling comments, I already have a block-spam attempt! Ugh! ]

Another item: RSS Feeds.I have not used RSS feed readers for quite a while. But as I’ve reviewed the RSS feed-readers, it seems that “Feedly” is one of the best. However, I doubt it’s going to be a great boon for those who aren’t already fairly technically savvy – and it’s the non-tech-savvy who would benefit from using it the most, I think.

But you’re welcome to see about using it. It’s available for iOS [iPad, iPhone etc] as well as Android and MacOS and Windows. Simply search for it in the iOS store, or the Android Play store. Google searches for the MacOS or Windows versions should get you there too.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devhd.feedly&hl=eniOS [iPad, iPhone]: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/feedly-your-google-reader/id396069556?mt=8
Feedly for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/feedly/
Feedly for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/feedly-your-news-rss-goog/hipbfijinpcgfogaopmgehiegacbhmob?hl=en
Feedly for Safari: http://update.feedly.com/install/feedly.safariextz?v=473

Ok, I’ll be back when I have the “real” deal up!

I wonder if there are any later updates on your father? And would you mind if I posted a piece on our website about his disappearance. I’m not suggesting I can be helpful (for I don’t want to raise false hope), but we do have readers in the Ukraine, and I would love to address them as Christians with a request to pray for and assist (if feasible) any way they might be able. In the meantime, I’ll certainly be praying and asking others to pray as well.

Thanks for the update. Please know we continue to follow and pray daily for Jay and for each one of you. We enjoy hearing about it and knowing something is still happening even if there have been no visible results yet. “All things work together for good to them that fear the Lord”

I have Jays pic as background on my computer to remind me daily to pray for your family ….

So great to see a post again! Thanks for the update. We continue to pray for Jay and your family as well. God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1: 12

So sorry about your father. Everyone at It Is Written is praying for him, even though we don’t know him personally. Would love to think that like Enoch, he was transported to heaven, but that’s not how God works, especially with a family that is anguishing for him. One day we will understand all the why’s, but right now it makes no sense. Praying for you and your family.

Amen to that! I also have been praying for you all. In spite of everything, keep looking to Jesus.

Not a day has gone by I’ve not wept… for Jay & all of you!
    You have our number! HUGS!!!!

This is to let you know that your family remain in my prayers. Your loss has impacted me more than any I can remember. I pray for God to comfort you all deeply and above all to keep you faithful. I know your Dad would want that for all of you until you are reunited. And…God WILL have the final word.

Please know that we have not forgotten and are still praying for the safe return of your Dad. I have been to Russia three times and it’s so very different there than here, but our Heavenly Father knows just where your dad is. We pray that The Father is not finished with Jay’s ministry here on earth because we are certainly not finished with Jay here. We want/need him back which is perhaps a selfish desire on our part because perhaps God, while walking with Jay that morning, was enjoying his companionship so very much that He simply wanted to keep walking with him. Just imagine what it was like for Enoch’s family when Dad didn’t return! Anyway, we have not forgotten your father, husband, grandfather in our prayers and hearts and pray for you too. We enjoy the stories of your life with Dad. What wonderful memories! You should write a book. God blessings on you all. Laura
